About Bitter Peptide Space (BPS)

BPS-1000

The BPS-1000 database contains experimentally tested bitter and non-bitter peptides. For each peptide, information on bitter taste threshold and activated bitter taste receptors, when available, is reported. Peptides are annotated using one-letter code sequences, HELM and BILN notations, which are specifically developed for peptide structural data.

Each entry is associated with references by clicking on the individual amino acid / peptide, allowing users to trace back to the original sources. Additionally, we have annotated cases of inconsistent data within the literature.

BPS-1000 in numbers

  • 570 bitter peptides,
  • 423 non-bitter peptides,
  • 83 peptides from patents and in-house collection,
